My name is Chris Griffith. I earned my sales agent real estate license in 2013 and joined The Maine Real Estate Network, who at the time was Maine’s largest agency with over 500 agents state-wide. My very first buyer client made an offer on a new home a week before Christmas that was listed by another agent in our office. Come to find out this agent had a large team and was one of the biggest producers state-wide in the agency. This agent also built the new home my buyer client made an offer on. How could things be easier, right? I could just walk down the hall and work everything out with this agent. Well that wasn’t the case. I soon found out I was totally on my own in an office of 500 appointed agents, where we were all competing with each other. I fought like hell for my client and got the concessions they wanted, but I also ruffled a lot of feathers with the agency’s management team in doing so. I wasn’t built for the cookie-cutter approach. And what the heck was this appointed agent concept, where everyone is an independent contractor and competing with each other, within an agency and on teams? I stayed with this agency for another year, taking training classes and learning everything I could about Maine real estate. I wanted to practice real estate a different way.

In 2016 I earned my Associate Broker real estate license and moved my license to LUX Realty. Their agency’s focus is commercial hospitality properties. Although I would be focusing on residential sellers as my clients, LUX agreed to take me on to learn a different approach to real estate brokerage. LUX practices Single Agency, meaning all agents at LUX have fiduciary duties to all clients. There would be no competition in this office, we all worked together representing all clients. LUX also did not practice Disclosed Dual Agency, where an agent can represent both buyer and seller in a real estate sale. I spent the next two years with LUX Realty, learning how clients could be treated exclusively with awesome results. I started to focus on seniors and truly loved working with them and their families. I became a very good Cribbage player. And now I knew how I wanted to structure my agency someday. I just had to wait the required 4 years to do so, and earn my Broker’s license.

In February 2018 I earned my Broker real estate license and formed Great Moose Real Estate in May 2018. We are a residential and commercial full service real estate agency licensed with the Maine Real Estate Commission. My agency’s focus is sellers, and my specialty is seniors. I am now a Designated Broker with the Maine Real Estate Commission, licensed to build an agency that takes a different approach to real estate brokerage.

Prior to real estate brokerage I spent 20+ years in the corporate world as a "tea-sipper", creating relationships and negotiating deals for some of the biggest entities out there (before the big shots came in and signed the paperwork).  Over the last 15 years I have also been renovating Maine homes for myself and my clients.  It's this group of friends that encouraged me to get my real estate license, while taking me to showings as their contractor, and/or getting their homes ready to sell. Real Estate has always been a natural fit with me.

I love working with seniors and truly enjoy helping them through the sunset chapters of their lives. I consider it a privilege working with seniors and their families today.

On top of having a unique approach to real estate brokerage, I incorporate my 40+ years of being a private pilot into my real estate practice, which offers you even more unique ways to get your property ready to market and sell quickly.

If you find yourself in any situation regarding real estate, where you want to sell your home or your parent's home, I can promise you a unique approach that works, that this agency will always exceed your expectations, that we will only represent you, that I will communicate early and often with all stakeholders, and that I will provide you with plenty of facts and support for you to make successful real estate decisions.

Everyone knows a Realtor.  And now you know one more, a really good one with an agency truly dedicated to only your family's interests.  Would you rather list your home with an agency with 20-30 listings and representing the buyer and seller, or an agency with 2-3 listings dedicated only to you and your family? The next time you are interviewing Realtors and agencies for your needs, consider taking a different approach and seeing the results for yourself.  I promise, you won't be disappointed.
